Landowner, court huntsman and former Minister of the Interior, Health and Agriculture of the Left Britta Caroc Schall Holberg has died.

She turned 80 years old.

This is confirmed by her one son, lawyer Jacob Schall Holberg, to Ekstra Bladet.

– I can confirm that my mother passed away yesterday (February 23, ed.), He says and agrees to put a few words on what his mother meant to him.

– She was a unique person. She had the ability to understand all types of people from all walks of life, all communities. She was a huge inspiration for my whole life, he says clearly moved.

– We have been partners all our lives – also in relation to running Hagenskov Estate, so it is a huge loss.

Funeral is arranged
Jacob Schall Holberg does not want to go into detail about the cause of death.

He also says that the funeral is planned.

– It will be March 5 in Sønderby Church, and it is a given that there are many who want to say a final goodbye to my mother, he says.

Britta Schall Holberg was born on Store Skullerupgård by Glumsø. In 1964 she was trained as a teacher from N. Zahle’s Seminarium in Copenhagen.

She later married her teacher colleague Jørgen Hansen, and together they had two children. Jørgen Hansen died in 2021.

In 1977, Britta Schall Holberg took over Hagenskov Castle near Ebberup from her father, Preben Caroc Schall Holberg.

Today, his son Jacob Schall Holberg has taken over Hagenskov Castle.

Left coryphaeus
In 1978, Britta Schall Holberg ran in the local elections for the Liberal Party in Assens Municipality. She was for a period deputy mayor, and in 1983 she was elected to the Folketing for Venstre.

Here she was for a period Minister of the Interior, Health and Agriculture of the party in Poul Schlüter’s four-leaf clover government.

Schall Holberg left the Folketing in 2011, but continued as an active debater and also gave lectures for a long period.

Three years ago she published a book about her mother, Gudrun, and at the time of her death she was in the process of writing her memoirs.

Schall Holberg was so active to the last – as late as the autumn of 2021, she ran for Assens Elderly Council, where she was elected by a large majority.
