MADRID, 3 Ago. ` –
The Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, has approved the lease contract for the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection for a period of 15 years with an estimated value of 97.5 million euros.
The Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection is currently in the Permanent Collection of the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza by virtue of a free loan contract signed in February 2002 and subsequently extended.
The contract recognizes the right of preferential acquisition over all or part of the Collection, according to the Ministry of Culture in a statement collected by Europa Press.
Previously, Congress already approved on July 21 the Royal Decree-Law that regulates the leasing of collections of movable property that is part of the Spanish Historical Heritage by certain entities of the public sector. The regulation has made it possible to formalize the lease of the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation.
