The Film Academy awards the Gold Medal to Latin American actors and actresses who are part of Spanish cinema

Represented by the Argentine Cecilia Roth and the Cuban Jorge Perugorría, they will be honored this April

Latin American actors and actresses who have contributed to Spanish cinema with their performances have been recognized with the Film Academy Gold Medal an award given to them for “enrich our cinematography with their talent, and be a mirror for many Spanish actors and actresses in which to look at themselves“, according to the Board of Directors of the institution.

Represented by Argentina Cecilia Roth and the cuban Jorge Perugorria this group that, with its different accents and different cultures, is part of the Spanish cinema community, will receive a tribute from the Film Academy in April, they add in a statement.

From ‘Snatch’ to ‘Pain and Glory’, Cecilia Roth has a close relationship with Spain and its cinema. Her talent is evidenced by her two Goya Awards for Best Leading Actress for ‘Martín (Hache)’, by Adolfo Aristarain, and ‘Todo sobre mi madre’, by Pedro Almodóvar, with whom she has worked eight times since her first film , ‘Pepi, Luci Boom and other girls of the lot’.

Perugorría is the most international face of Cuban cinema and the unforgettable co-star of ‘Strawberry and Chocolate’, the first Cuban feature film nominated for an Oscar. Roth and Perugorría will receive the award, designed and donated by Chus Burés to the institution, in the tribute ceremony to the Latin actresses and actors who have carved a niche for themselves in the country’s cinema, among which are the aforementioned Cecilia Roth and Jorge Perugorría , together with Silvia Pinal, Ricardo Darín, Gael García Bernal, Diego Luna, Óscar Martínez, the Alterios (Héctor, Ernesto and María), Leonardo Sbaraglia, Darío Grandinetti, Miguel Ángel Solá, Norma Aleandro, Pablo Echarri, Pepe Soriano, Norman Briski , Leticia Brédice, Gastón Pauls, Mirtha Ibarra, Óscar Isaac, Daniel Gime*nez Cacho, Ana de Armas or Salma Hayek.
