Made brutal list – Ekstra Bladet
Lars ‘Chief 1’ Pedersen realized that he had to get rid of all the people who created negative energy in his life. Therefore, he wrote down the names – and sorted them out in his life one by one

He has often talked about it. In fact, for skinlessness. 52-year-old Lars ‘Chief 1’ Pedersen has always been liberatingly honest about the depression that hit him with a bang back in 2015.

When the Depression came in full force, the songwriter, music producer and artist’s world crashed. He divorced his wife, made his son a divorced child and threw himself into a negative spiral.

Day after day without content, a colorless and emotionless everyday life and gloomy thoughts characterized the musician, who was otherwise in the middle of an artistically successful period, which i.a. included a rewarding collaboration with friend Remee in the project RE.A.CH.

All that he left to find himself again. Now, seven years later, he has become a successful solo artist with something on his mind, and most recently helped write the Danish Melodi Grand Prix winner ‘The Show’, who will soon be down and competing in Turin for Eurovision.

Poor energy in the stomach
Most recently, another tragic incident – back in 1997, when Chief 1 was close to putting the clogs in connection with an operation – has been up for grabs in the Radio4 broadcast ‘Portrait Album’, where Lars Pedersen describes his close relationship with the Beach Boys album ‘Pet Sounds’ and lead singer Bryan Wilson, who with his alternative mindset has in more ways than one helped Chief 1 out of the worst crises of his life.

– I remember that one of the things I did was make a list of all the people who should not be in my life anymore. It was very radical. I think there were a six-seven names. Those people had to be removed. It was simply some of the bad energy that had settled in my stomach and had turned into a knot. It was down in the solar plexus, says Lars Pedersen and continues:

– It was as if the record (‘Pet Sounds’, red) was an eye opener that if you have to be here and keep going, then there are some things you need to change. I sought out the whole alternative world, reflexology and acupuncture, because I knew that the ordinary traditional medical world was not really something for me, says the musician.

Balance in the weight bowl
It took some time for Chief 1 to get back on his feet after he sorted out the people who brought bad energies into his life.

– It was probably another year after I changed and remade all sorts of things that were wrong, removed some of the people who were wrong, and got rid of some of the bad energies and all the energy vampires that are out there, but I think I’m still slowly learning. I have come to a point where I am better at saying no and standing by myself, says Lars ‘Chief 1’ Pedersen.

The change seems to be too permanent, for he still sticks to all the adjustments he made in his life:

– I’m holding on the balance Today. I do not want to be such a caveman who goes to bed when it gets dark and gets up at dawn, runs 10 kilometers and eats bran biscuits. I want my red wine and I want my sussies. But I also know now that I’m not invulnerable, so I have to think about the scales all the time. If I’ve done some shit, I need to do something good too.
