Movies|The film, which will premiere in the fall of 2025, tells the story of a Finnish singer’s journey to become an international rock star.
Author Juha Itkonen from a successful novel Let me love more let’s make a movie. Oskari Sipolan the film written and directed by him stars in the lead roles Try Kähkönen, Mimosa Willamo and a singer and songwriter making her first film role Rita Behm.
The shooting of the film starts this week and it will premiere in the fall of 2025.
Let me love more is Juha Itkonen’s second novel, and it was published in 2005. The book was a bestseller and was awarded the state prize for literature in 2006.
The novel tells about a Finnish rock singer’s journey to international success through the stories of the singer’s mother and ex-boyfriend and bandmate.
Rita Behm plays the main character in the film version, the singer Suvi Vaahteraa, Pyry Kähkönen her ex-boyfriend and Mimosa Willamo the ex-boyfriend’s current spouse.
Kähkönen will be seen this summer Neflix’s Vikings: Valhalla in the third season of the series. He also presented Vesa-Matti Loiria Very popular Did you love, Vesku? – in the listening series. In recent years, Willamo has played leading roles in films, among other things Guardian of water and Content. She received the Jussi Award for Best Actress in 2020 for the film Aurora.
At issue is the first film based on Itkonen’s production. The director says in the press release that he once received Itkonen’s book as a gift from his girlfriend at the time.
“He said that this is your future film,” Sipola says.
Juha Itkonen has said that even though the book is a fictional story, it was inspired by his youth in rock bands from Hämeenlinna.
“It feels great that a couple of decades later, a new generation is making their own interpretation of the book, and specifically as a movie,” Itkonen says in the announcement.
