The constantly updated Worldometers monitoring page shows that, as of May 17, 2022, 6290506 people (+2031 per day) died from the coronavirus disease COVID-19 in the world, more than 523 million were infected, about 24 million are currently infected, more than 493 million infected are recognized as recovered. Average lethality: 1.2%.
