The Ministry of Health is holding a briefing today (Sunday) on the topic of monkey pox. During the briefing, the Ministry of Health clarified that no second case of monkey pox has been recorded in Israel, and so far only one patient has been diagnosed. Also, another person suspected of having chickenpox monkey was eventually diagnosed as not sick with the disease.
In addition, the Ministry of Health emphasized that in most cases it is a blistering disease that passes without complications and does not require hospitalization of the patients.
The first case of monkey pox in Israel was discovered on Friday evening at the Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv. The patient is a man in his 30s who has returned from a trip to Western Europe. He is now hospitalized in solitary confinement in a light condition.
