Ministry of Ecology: each period of abnormal heat in Israel on average gives 45 additional deaths

The Israeli Ministry of the Environment has published the results of a study on the impact of heatwaves (periods of abnormally hot weather) on mortality rates.

According to a study by Drs. Dan Yamin and Erez Shmueli of Tel Aviv University, on average during heat peaks, the actual death rate exceeds the predicted one by 45 deaths. Moreover, the supplement occurs for the most part for people over the age of 70 years.

For the study, data were taken for eight periods of abnormal heat between 2012 and 2020.
