Acute pancreatitis is an acute inflammation of the pancreas, an important organ in the production of digestive enzymes and hormone regulating blood sugar. Reasonable diet after acute pancreatitis helps reduce inflammation, support the recovery process and prevent recurrence.
After the treatment of acute pancreatitis, you should eat low -fat foods, choose food rich in protein. Prioritize foods rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber, drink enough water, divide into small meals and increase gradually according to the body’s ability to tolerate.
As soon as pancreatitis is stable, you need to reduce fat to avoid increasing pressure on the pancreas, because the fat stimulates the pancreatic excretion and digestive enzymes. Should drink enough water, minimum 1.5-2 liters a day to maintain metabolism, electrolyte balance, support digestive function. You should choose soft, easy -to -digest dishes such as thin porridge, sugar water, fruit juice, electric drinks rich in electrolytes or low -fat milk.
When symptoms have improved, you can switch to soft, low -fat foods such as porridge, soup, soft cooked vegetables. Limit spicy spices such as chili, pepper, spicy sauce.
You should split meals, at least 5-6 meals a day, to ensure energy, while reducing the load for the pancreas, helping the digestive process, absorbing food more effectively. This stage should prioritize nutritious foods, gradually increase the amount of protein from lean meat, lean fish, beans, eggs, low -fat milk … to support the body to recover quickly.

After re -examination and stable pancreatitis, you can gradually return to the normal diet, diverse foods but continue to limit fat. Priority is given to a healthy fat group (with moderate amounts) such as olive oil, canola oil, avocado, nuts (almonds, chia seeds, walnuts …). Maintaining the amount of fat below 30-50 g every day helps reduce the burden on the pancreas for at least the first few months, creating conditions for the pancreas to recover completely damage.
Patients after pancreatitis should increase fruits such as strawberries, grapes, blueberries to provide vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, contributing to reducing inflammation, supporting the process of recovery for the pancreas. The diet reduces fat, focusing on vegetables, fruits, whole grains also supplementing the amount of fiber, limiting hyperchemical cholesterol and blood triglycerides (neutral fat in the blood). This reduces the risk of developing gallstones and increasing blood triglycerides, avoiding recurrent acute pancreatitis.
During recovery, avoid foods that can worsen the disease, including fried foods, fast food, fat meat, animal organs, whole milk, sugar -rich foods because it is easy to cause inflammation. Patients should not use stimulating drinks such as alcohol, beer, coffee, energy drink.
Acute pancreatitis recurs many times that can progress into chronic pancreatitis, seriously affecting the ability to digest, nutrition as well as overall health of the patient. Therefore, people with acute pancreatitis should follow a balanced diet, suitable to promote the complete recovery of the pancreas, minimizing risk factors that can cause recurrence.
