Israel’s new prime minister to discuss with health officials possible tightening of quarantine measures

On Sunday, July 3, the new Prime Minister of Israel, Yair Lapid, will meet with senior officials from the Ministry of Health in his office to discuss the situation related to the seventh wave of the coronavirus epidemic.

The number of infected continues to grow. Nearly 100,000 people have now been infected. Although, as a rule, the disease is mild, the number of hospitalized and seriously ill patients is gradually increasing.

It is possible that in the current situation, the government will listen to the opinion of experts and go for some tightening of quarantine measures. In particular, it is possible that the wearing of protective masks in enclosed spaces and public transport will again be declared mandatory.

In today’s meeting with the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Minister of Health Nitzan Horowitz, Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office Naama Schultz, Director General of the Ministry of Health Nachman Ash, Head of the Department of Public Health of the Ministry of Health Sharon Elrai-Pryce, responsible for issues on Coronavirus Salman Zarqa, Brigadier General (Ret.) Moshe Edri, Deputy Chief of Staff Eitan Ben David, and health professionals.
