Israel is one of the world’s leading countries in the skin cancer rate, a malignant disease that can be prevented. May is international awareness month for the disease, and here you did not know about the disease and the risks you might not know about.
Melanoma is one of the three most common and lowest skin cancers of all. Every year, more than 1,200 new patients in Melair are diagnosed in Israel. A penetrating melanoma of the skin is a growing growth beyond the epidermal layers in the skin tissue, and has a high chance of spreading the body into malignant. The earlier the growth, the greater the chance of recovery. Focused melanoma is a very early start that has not yet exceeded the epidermal layer in the skin tissue. In this case, too, an early diagnosis of targeted melanoma improves the chances of recovery.
“The sun’s radiation increases the risk of having a disease in many non -intuitive situations,” Dr. explained Ackerman’s brickSpecialist in dermatologic surgery and chairman of the dermatological surgery.
She continued: “This means that drivers, especially taxi drivers, trucks and private vehicles that travel for many hours, are exposed to ongoing damage, especially on the left side of the interior and arm – the side that appeals to the window. So it is important to apply a radiation from a long drive.”
Dr. Ackerman also noted that the sunscreen itself does not last all day: “Even if a lotion of sunscreen is smeared, sweat, water and friction from clothing causes it to be weakened. We recommend renewing the smear at least once every two hours or after bathing, sweating or wiping in the towel. A single smell in the morning does not provide full protection for a full day in the sun. ”
Dr. Ackerman also added that, according to studies, people who suffered from recurrent sunburn in childhood and adolescents are at increased risk of developing melanoma in adulthood: “Five severe childhood burns multiply the risk of getting melanoma in older age. This is why it is advisable to protect especially for children and teens, wear hats and smear them in a sunscreen, even in the days when the sun looks less strong. ”
“Wealthy lips can also develop skin cancer. The lips, and especially the lower lip that is more exposed to the sun’s rays, very sensitive to UV radiation. It is recommended to use lipstick or lip-balm with at least 30 SPF protection, renewing the smell throughout the day, especially when there is a long time outside,” she said.
“People with bright eyes – blue, green or gray – are at a slightly higher risk of developing skin cancer, since their skin also has less natural pigmentation that protects from radiation,” Dr. Ackerman added.
The Cancer War Association recommends paying attention to four signs from “four gimmicks”. If you have found a mole that is suitable for one of the following, immediately go to the doctor for examination:
-
- Symmetrical growth: The cancerous mole will usually increase as symmetrically, with one ointment not equal to the other.
-
- Border: A mole that borders is unclear and defined (including bays and aggression) is suspected of cancerous tumor.
-
- Tue: Pay attention to the assessment that is uniform, and consists of several shades, such as brown, black, pink and blue.
-
- Size: A mole that has exceeded 5 millimeters (a diameter of pencil) is also defined as suspected and requires a doctor’s examination.
To reduce the risk of skin cancer, you should keep some rules:
-
- Avoid sun exposure from 16: 00-10: 00.
-
- When staying in the sun, cover the body and wear a hat that will protect the face and home front.
-
- Bald people are exposed to the development of malignant tumors in the scalp, and need a head covering when exposure to the sun.
-
- Component sunglasses with a sunscreen.
-
- Apply on the left -wing skin to serve as a generous layer of sunscreen with a protection factor of 15 or more, and preferably at least 50. The defense coefficient should be applied half an hour before going to the sun, and renewing the smear once every two hours.
-
- Light skin, moles and multiple gems, or those with a family history of skin cancer, are particularly high for the disease. For these and others, it is recommended to have a self -examination of the skin once every six months.
-
- It is recommended to check the body up front and back in a well -lit room. It is important to look at the entire skin area, including the scalp, between hypotheses, the folds of the body and the fingers of the hands and feet. To test the scalp and the back it is necessary to use others.
-
- Note that melanoma may also appear on the nail in the palm or leg. It will usually look like black or dark blue.
-
- Suspicious moles: It is recommended to be examined by the dermatologist once a year to find new moles with a suspicious shape. As mentioned – if the mole includes unclear and defined boundaries, red, blue or black, bleeding, itching, or asymmetrical shape – the doctor will recommend a biopsy where the suspected mole will be removed and examined under the microscope. Bright skin, people who have already found suspicious moles and family history for skin cancer will need tight monitoring.
