How does that happen?
Food loses moisture when stored in the freezer although at a low level if the food is packed and wrapped tightly to prevent air from entering. As the air gets in, moisture seeps out, leading to that frosty, colorless appearance.
Is frozen food with ice safe to eat?
Although freezer burned food may not look appealing, it is perfectly safe to eat. Freezer burn does affect the quality but not the safety of the food. It is best to remove parts of meat or vegetables that have been exposed to freezer burn, as this will significantly affect the taste and texture due to the loss of moisture.
