Natalie Maimon Rabinovich, a lung oncologist and director of the lung tumor service at Meir Hospital, explains what holistic medicine is. According to her, this is a personal and emotional medicine, in which the patient is seen first and foremost as a human being, and it is known that it is impossible to separate body and mind. “The mind is a necessary part of therapy,” she says. Sometimes, says Maimon Rabinovich, even though the body responds to treatment, patients do not feel well psychosomatically. Therefore, it is important to instill positive messages throughout the treatment, according to which there is a chance and possibilities for prolonging life. “Patients need to be given hope that will allow them to rise,” she says.
Maimon Rabinovich tells of a 50.year.old patient who, following a violent illness, almost became disabled. However, within a few months the disease receded. “It’s really a medical miracle in a metastatic and severe disease. She just came back from the darkness. This success is due to her and the rights to the qualities of holistic treatment.”
