“It would be great if Nadal could continue for another season, but only he can answer that question”

Former Swiss tennis player Roger Federer advises Spaniard Rafa Nadal, with whom he has a great friendship, that it could be “useful” for him to decide as soon as possible when he wants to retire, and admits that “it would be great” if he could play “one more season.”

“In the end, it can be useful to make a decision at some point. And once it’s over, you can relax,” Federer told German news agency dpa ahead of the start of the Laver Cup this weekend in Berlin, which the Spaniard eventually withdrew from.

In this sense, the winner of 21 Grand Slams hopes that the player from Manacor “could play a match” in the team competition. “But he told me that he preferred not to do so and that he did not feel ready,” confirmed the player from Basel.

“But he seems to be doing well. I think he just needs to decide what to do next and I think that’s what he’s going through at the moment. He’s done everything for this sport, it would be great if he could continue for another season, but only Rafa himself can answer that,” added the Swiss.
