Military police had to intervene to prevent a major fight between fans of Flamengo and Peñarol, on the morning of this Thursday (19), at Praia da Macumba, west of Rio de Janeiro, where the Uruguayans are concentrated.
The teams face each other at 7pm, at Maracanã, for the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals.

Peñarol fans were celebrating with music from the stands in kiosks on the waterfront, which are close to the campsite where the buses are parked, when two red-and-black fans jumped off a motorcycle and called for a fight.
Police officers tried to separate the crowd, but punches and kicks continued to be exchanged. One police officer fired a shot into the air to break up the disturbance. A Peñarol fan threw a plant pot that was on a table in one of the kiosks at one of the police cars.
After the mood calmed down, the Uruguayans continued to enjoy the beach and warm up for the match. Buses carrying Peñarol fans are still arriving at the venue. They are expected to leave for Maracanã in the early afternoon.
