Juhamatti Aaltonen talks about his situation – is his career over?

Juhamatti Aaltonen’s career may be over. Or not. The puck artist finally talks about his situation.

The summary is made by artificial intelligence and checked by a human.

The Pelicans and Aaltonen canceled their contract in August.

Aaltonen does not know if he will continue his career.

Rumors have linked Aalto to the Jokers.

Aaltonen thinks that the 39-year-old striker no longer arouses interest in the player market.

Remind disappeared Juhamatti Aaltonen?

The new hockey season is already in full swing, but Aalto is nowhere to be seen or heard from.

Last February, Aaltonen returned from his European tour for a few months back to the SM league and Lahti Pelicans.

In addition to last spring, the contract also covered the 2024–25 season, but in August the Pelicans announced that they had canceled it in agreement with Aaltonen.

“I don’t really have anything to say about that. It went like this. No drama. It was decided by consensus and that’s it,” Aaltonen announces.

After last spring’s SC finals, Aaltones has not been heard from in public. Is the career of the 39-year-old hockey legend over?

Aaltonen, who lives in Espoo with his family, is thoughtful about it.

“The hard work is underway. If there was something good on offer, maybe you could still grab it. But if there isn’t, then I’ll stop. I guess that’s how it feels at the moment.”

Last in the corridor rumors of the past, Aalto has been connected to the Mestis team with the Jokers, where he is even a year older than him Valtteri Filppula40, swings the baton of attack.

“Many have asked about it, but I have no idea where that thing came from. I guess someone there has started a rumor,” Aaltonen answers the question about Jokers.

“You can never say never, but it’s a bit like the feeling of going to Kajaani to play at the age of 39. Maybe snacking isn’t in your thoughts at the moment. “

Aaltonen played 11 regular season games for the Pelicans last spring with 2+4. In the playoffs that ended in the finals, the balance of 17 matches was 1+3.

Aaltonen five months have already passed since the last match. However, he has maintained his fitness and has been on the ice throughout the fall.

“When that matter was agreed with Pelsu in the summer, I had already had some time to train. I thought that tomorrow, when it starts to look a little like it’s in shape, then it’s just a matter of keeping in shape, if you still feel like playing.”

“If you lie down for a long time and just be, then it’s hard to start again. “

Aaltonen is not stressed about his uncertain situation. A long and handsome career may or may not be over. He says that there have been no worse inquiries.

“And here there is no feeling that you have to go somewhere to play. And if this decision drags on for a long time, maybe it will indicate that there is no longer a game here.”

Aaltonen understands well why the phone has been silent.

“I’m already 39 years old and not so good anymore. Even if the player market is dry, who wants a 39-year-old whose best days are far behind? You have to be honest with yourself. Trains start to lose their blood, and the game changes. I don’t think there will be many alternatives.”

Aaltonen is not looking abroad. Except maybe for a night out.

“If I go abroad, then to one of the Italian leagues. Let’s go skiing and tinkering.”
