World ranking Jannik Sinner cancels for Vienna

Not good news for that Erste Bank Open in the Wiener Stadthalle (October 21st to 27th): World number one Jannik Sinner will not defend his title. The Italian announced this at the tournament in Beijing.

Sinner’s lead in the ranking is more than 4,000 pointshe would no longer need counters to overwinter as number one. He still wants to score points, a week after Vienna at the 1,000 tournament in Paris-Bercy and then at the ATP finals. Before that, he wants to play for the title at the Masters tournament in Shanghai and an invitation tournament in Riyadh.
