World Championship uphill for Pecco

Jorge Martin triumphs today in the MotoGP class of the Indonesian GP. The Spanish Pramac rider consolidates his leadership in the MotoGP by imposing himself on the Mandalika track. Martin precedes his compatriot Pedro Acosta (Ktm), who ended up under investigation for suspicious tire pressure and then ‘acquitted’. Third place for Pecco Bagnaia: the world champion, riding the official Ducati, starts badly but recovers ground during the race, finishing 5”595 behind the winner. At the foot of the podium were Franco Morbidelli and Marco Bezzecchi, who finished in fifth and sixth place. Marc Marquez withdraws due to technical problems. Disappointment for Enea Bastianini, who crashed with 7 laps to go: goodbye to third place.

Martin extends his lead in the world rankings to 366 points. Bagnaia follows at 345, -21 from the leader, with 5 GPs remaining until the end of the season.

“It’s not just a victory, it’s a particular success after yesterday’s crash: I confess I thought about it in practically every corner. Acosta put a lot of pressure on me, now we can think about the next race”, says Martin after the success.

Bagnaia is satisfied with his placing on a complex day. “It was a difficult race, at the start I lost ground because the grip wasn’t optimal. It’s not the first time this has happened, we need to understand why this situation occurs. After a start like that it becomes difficult to recovertoday I had to fight a lot to overtake Morbidelli and Baez”, says the world champion.
