Yunchaokete Bu, who is the Chinese tennis player who challenges Sinner

After the victory over the Czech Jiri Lehecka, Jannik Sinner today he faces the Chinese Yunchaokete Bu in the semifinal of the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing. The 22-year-old, number 96 in the world, arrives at the appointment after a growing journey. Having entered the draw thanks to a wild card, the tennis player from Xinjang made his way by beating his compatriot Shang Jungchen, number 52 in the world and fresh winner of the Chengdu tournament, the Italian Lorenzo Musetti and the Russian Andrey Rublev, ranked number 4 .

Born in January 2002, he is five months younger than Sinner. Unlike the Italian tennis player, however, his career is much more recent. Only in January 2022 did he win his first ATP point and from there the climb began: in 2023 he became the third under 21 of his nationality to win a Challenger (the one in Seoul). He finished last year after getting through the first round at the Masters 1000 in Shanghai.

In 2024 he won his second Challenger at the Wuxi Open, China, defeating Egor Gerasimov and thus becoming the youngest Chinese player to win multiple titles at this level. Now, after entering the top 100, he is preparing to climb other positions with the results obtained in Beijing.
