Serbian kayaker Bojan Zdelar won a gold medal today in the 500.meter single.seater at the World Championships for juniors and younger seniors in Montemor de Velje, Portugal.

Zdelar led from the beginning of the race, and he won with a 65 percent advantage over the European champion from Denmark, Thorbjorn Raska. The bronze medal was won by the Swede Denis Krenen.

“This competition was extremely turbulent for me. I rowed first in the 1,000 meter race in which I had a good feeling and the boat was going well, but that energy took me. I made a tactical mistake where I went too far in the middle of the race and I didn’t the rest of the strength for the finish. I entered this race smarter, I saved energy in the middle so I could endure in the finish, because I knew all the competitors were extremely good in the second part of the race, but this time I didn’t let anyone overtake me. ” said Zdelar for the Kayak Federation website.

Zdelar previously took the fourth place in the one.seater at 1,000 meters.

He won the second medal for the Serbian team in Portugal, after Marija Dostanic won a silver medal in the same discipline.

Junior Veljko Dovragović took the fifth place in the finals in the same discipline.

The women’s quadruple in the 500 meters in the competition of competitors under 23, consisting of Marija Dostanić, Željana Petrović, Olivera Mihajlović and Anastazija Bajuk, finished the World Championship in ninth place.
