The sole Judge of professional Competitions and the sole Judge of non-professional Competitions of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) agreed this Thursday to postpone all the matches scheduled for this weekend in the Valencian Community, among them, Valencia CF-Real Madrid CF or Villarreal CF-Rayo Vallecano, according to a statement.
“It has been agreed to postpone matches that were to be played in professional and non-professional competitions, both in 11-a-side football and futsal,” the entity reported, after the Valencian Community has been “seriously affected by DANA, which has caused fatalities.” and numerous material damages due to flooding.
In the case of professional football, and after receiving the request from LaLiga and the F League yesterday – at the request of several clubs involved -, the matches on matchday 12 of LaLiga EA Sports Villarreal CF-Rayo Vallecano and Valencia CF-Real Madrid. While CD Castellón-RC Ferrol, CD Eldense-SD Huesca and Levante UD-Málaga CF are also postponed from matchday 13 of LaLiga Hypermotion.
The matches of the women’s football categories are also postponed, accepting – with regard to professional competitions – the postponement request of Valencia Féminas-RC Deportivo and Real Madrid CF-Levante UD of League F.
For his part, the sole Judge of Non-professional Competitions has determined that various matches of the First Federation, First Iberdrola Federation, Second Federation, Second Women’s Federation and Third Federation be postponed, both in men’s and women’s competitions.
Likewise, the decision affects different futsal matches in various categories under the orbit of the RFEF, from the First Division to the Youth Honor Division. These matches are added to those that were already postponed in the first round of the Copa del Rey and those corresponding to the CESA under-14 and under-16.
“Beyond the postponements, Spanish football wanted to show its solidarity with the people affected, especially with the relatives of those who died in this natural disaster; and, therefore, all the matches played yesterday in competitions organized by the RFEF came preceded by respectful minutes of silence. This circumstance will be repeated during the weekend,” the entity reported in its statement.
The fatalities due to the passage of DANA in Spain now exceed one hundred people, after nine deaths were found this Thursday in the city of Valencia. The DANA is one of the most serious natural disasters of the last 75 years in Spain, even ahead of the Biescas (Huesca) flood in 1996 with 87 deaths and the Turia flood in 1957, in which 80 lost their lives. and 100 people.
