Niklas Stark is moving to Werder Bremen

After leaving Hertha BSC, Niklas Stark is moving to Bundesliga competitor Werder Bremen. The 27-year-old central defender signed a contract with the promoted team, but the Hanseatic League did not provide any information about its term. Stark’s contract with the Berliners had not been extended after seven years. Therefore, Bremen does not have to pay a fee.

“With his 200 Bundesliga games, he already has plenty of experience that he will bring to us,” said Clemens Fritz, Werder’s head of professional football “Niklas is a robust and technically good defensive player who has experienced a lot in his career,” said Werder coach Ole Werner about the two-time national soccer player.

Stark had not been a permanent part of Hertha’s permanent staff this season. In the decisive relegation game at Hamburger SV he was used in the final minutes and was then celebrated by the Berlin fans. Of course, saying goodbye was not easy for him, Stark admitted after successfully staying up. (dpa)
