Füchse Berlin pulls off a coup at Paris St. Germain

The Füchse Berlin have secured an important victory in the fight for the first two places in Group A of the Champions League – and the associated direct quarter-final qualification. The Berlin handball players won 37:33 (19:18) against the French champions Paris Saint-Germain. The Bundesliga club moves up to fourth place. The best Berlin throwers were the outstanding Lasse Andersson with 13 goals and Mathias Gidsel with seven.

Coach Jaron Siewert had to do without right winger Tobias Reichmann, who remained in Berlin due to illness. The game started very evenly, neither team was able to pull away at first. The Foxes tried again and again to finish with a lot of speed. In attack, the guests failed a few times due to Paris keeper Jannick Green.

On the other hand, Dejan Milosavljev could hardly get hold of a ball. Lasse Ludwig came in for him after 22 minutes. Nevertheless, Paris also had problems, so the guests were able to take the lead with two goals for the first time in the 16th minute (11:9). But this didn’t last long. The lead changed back and forth until the break.

After the break, the guests were able to pull away for the first time in the fast-paced game with three goals in the 37th minute (23:20). Although Paris came back and took the lead again ten minutes before the end (30:29), the Foxes stayed cool, had better nerve in the final phase and pulled ahead by four goals a minute and a half before the end.
