Jannik Sinner is the Italian athlete who earned the most in 2024. The year closed with two Grand Slam tournaments, the Australian Open and the US Open, together with the ATP Finals and the second consecutive Davis Cup won with Italy, paid off for the Italian tennis player over 65 million euros. Of these, around 16 came from the prize money of the ATP circuit tournaments, another 6 from the triumph in the stars’ tournament in Ryadh and the remaining around 40 from different activities. From sponsorships to merchandising. And behind him? Many footballers, but not only.
The richest Italian athletes
After the unreachable Sinner, the first is Marco Verratti. At Al-Arabi, the Italian midfielder earns around 30 million net per season. Then follows the basketball player Simone Fontecchiowho signed a contract worth around 7.4 million net per year with the Detroit Pistons in the summer.
Then here is Sandro Tonali and Ciro Immobile (7 million net, received at Newcastle and Besiktas) and the MotoGP champion Pecco Bagnaia in sixth place. The Ducati rider, who this year came close to his third consecutive world championship, has a salary of 5 and a half million (pushed upwards by various bonuses, such as 100,000 per victory for each Grand Prix, 50,000 for second places and 30,000 for thirds): for him, this year, 11 victories, a second place and 4 third places. For a total of 6 million and 670,000 euros.
Lots of football, obviously
Next, from seventh to tenth position: the Inter player Nicolò Barella (6.5 million net), the goalkeeper of PSG and the national team Gianluigi Donnarumma (6 million net), the defenders of Inter Alessandro Bastoni (5.5 million net) e Federico Dimarco (4 million net). On equal merit with the Nerazzurri winger, at 4 million net, is the defender of Arsenal and the national team Riccardo Calafiori. This is regarding salaries, with figures obviously to be revised upwards for the various sponsorship contracts.
