– Second medal for Italy at the cycling world championships with a bronze in the mixed relay race. On the roads of Flanders, Belgium, the blue sextet prevailed by just five cents over Switzerland, fourth. The gold went to Germany. It is the first podium ever in a specialty introduced only in 2019 and follows Filippo Ganna’s gold in the men’s Elite time trial.

Final in descent

On the 44.5.kilometer route, from Knokke.Heist to Bruges, the blues Matteo Sobrero, Filippo Ganna, Edoardo Affini, Marta Cavalli, Elena Cecchini and Elisa Longo Borghini closed 37 seconds and 74 cents from Germany, gold with Nikias Arndt, Tony Martin, Max Walscheid, Lisa Brennauer, Lisa Klein and Mieke Kroeger).
