Mercedes driver Luis Hamilton achieved his 100th victory in the Formula 1 championship today, in the race for the Grand Prix of Russia. The seven.time world champion came to victory after it started to rain in Sochi eight laps before the end, with Lando Norris leading at the time. (McLaren) did not go for a tire change in time.

Hamilton thus took the lead in the overall standings (246.5), while Red Bull driver Max Verstappen (244.5) finished second after starting from the rear due to a change of engine.

Carlos Sainz from Ferrari was third, Daniel Ricardo (McLaren) was fourth, and Hamilton’s teammate Valteri Botas finished fifth.

Points were also won by Fernando Alonso (Alpin), Norris, who also got an extra point for the fastest lap, Kimi Raikkonen (Alfa Romeo), Sergio Perez (Red Bull) and George Russell (Williams).

The next race on the program is on October 10 for the Turkish Grand Prix.
