The project for the new city stadium was presented today at the Municipality of Venice – designed to host Serie A matches, rugby meetings and other events such as concerts. Maffeis Engineering and Populous, the world leading architecture studio in the sports and entertainment sector, received the design of the design of companies consisting of Bordignon constructions, Fincantieri Infrastructure and Ranzato Impianti, who in March 2024 was awarded the tender. It is an important sports infrastructure, a modern 18,500 seats Serie A stadium, which will rise to Tessera in the new sports forest, a multifunctional pole of 116 hectares north of the city, designed to integrate sports, sociability, education and well -being.
To inspire its forms is the surrounding landscape. The curvilinear sections follow those of the entire area of the Masterplan, dialoguing with the volumes of the nearby Arena and the sports center. The perimeter line of the stadium also follows the general organic lines: its clean structure is ideally located inside the sport forest as a pavilion in a garden. The facade is characterized by a game of vertical elements that rise upwards regularly and create a sort of fifth of the basin in the upper band. This warp makes the system light, airy and allows a vision of the stadium basin also from the outside.
The crescent podium gently envelops the volume of the stadium, becoming a strategic part of the structure, to host parking lots and other services. The cavea develops on a semi -physical section on three south, east and north sides. Populous’s specialized designers designed it to offer an impeccable vision during the games. Its compact and monumental configuration brings fans closer to the playing field, amplifying emotions and creating a unique atmosphere.
The west grandstand is intended for VIP hospitality, and is able to offer premium experiences aligned with the most recent solutions of the best European championships. For the local fans, dedicated spaces have been designed, such as the covered gallery surrounding the catino at 360 degrees, offering selected services and an exciting view of the landscape around. In general, a diversified range of refreshment offers and places for social interaction will make the stay of all the public even more pleasant. The stadium was designed in accordance with the best inclusive design requirements, to allow everyone to use and enjoy this place.
