Although Maccabi Tel Aviv started the season with a difficult 68:69 over Bayern Munich, the Yellows star, Scotty Wilbkin, proved that he is in top form already in the opening round. The guard excelled with 28 points, led the Israeli champion to a reversal in the last quarter and completed a great display with an index of 32. This morning (Saturday) it was learned that the impressive stat line was enough for Wilbkin to win the MVP title of the first round of the Euroleague.
During the victory over the Germans, Wilbkin equaled the record of his career in the factory in points, which he set in the Yellows’ victory over Budućnost in October 2018. Even then the guard won the round outstanding, but then he shared the title with Andulo Zero player Rodrig Boboa.
In fact, Wilbkin is not at all the player with the highest score in the last round. Andulo Zero star Shane Larkin finished the loss to Real Madrid with an index of 35, but in light of the fact that the Euroleague is handing out the title to the player with the highest index coming from a winning team, the title went to Wilbkin.
In second place, with an index of 31, came Nikola Mirotic, who helped Barcelona defeat Alba Berlin of Yuval Sussman and Tamir Blatt. The podium is completed by three players, each of whom scored 24: Niccolò Mali (Armani Milano), Eddie Tavares (Real Madrid) and Eli Okubo (Villarban).
