Sovereign opening victory for tennis ace ofner in Madrid

Tennis professional Sebastian Ofner has in Masters-1000 tournament in Madrid celebrated in the first round.

The Styrian, who plays in the main competition thanks to a protected ranking, sat down against the qualifier on Wednesday Hugo Gaston from France in 1:20 hours with 6: 4, 6: 3.

In the second round, a duel with Brandon Nakashima is waiting for the 28-year-old. The American is number 31 of the seed list in the Spanish capital.

Against Nakashima it will “surely be a really tough match,” he said with regard to the next opponent. “He plays really well, has a good season. But I think if I play well when I feel good, I definitely have my chances.”
