Tennis professional Sebastian Ofner has in Masters-1000 tournament in Madrid celebrated in the first round.
The Styrian, who plays in the main competition thanks to a protected ranking, sat down against the qualifier on Wednesday Hugo Gaston from France in 1:20 hours with 6: 4, 6: 3.
In the second round, a duel with Brandon Nakashima is waiting for the 28-year-old. The American is number 31 of the seed list in the Spanish capital.
The first sentence was a tight matter. Ofner prevailed after 46 minutes, the first break of the game was also the set win for ATP number 153. Ofner made more direct point winnings than Gaston and was able to rely on his serve when he landed in the field. The quota was expandable at almost 50 percent.
Ofner sees himself on a “very good way”

He converted his second match ball with a crashing backhand longline winner. “It was really a good match,” said Ofner afterwards. He had “made little self -error, played very aggressively, powerful from the start”. He was not yet at his level of the previous year, “but I’m on a very good way”.
Against Nakashima it will “surely be a really tough match,” he said with regard to the next opponent. “He plays really well, has a good season. But I think if I play well when I feel good, I definitely have my chances.”
