Romanian tennis star Simona Halep, who won Wimbledon in 2019, is ready for the semi-finals of this year’s tournament after a 6-2, 6-4 victory over American Amanda Anisimova.
Halep is a former world setter, but is currently only number 18 on the world rankings. However, she looks like an extremely strong candidate for the title again this year.
The Romanian has thus not lost a single set on his way to the semi-finals. And she was not close to that in Wednesday’s quarterfinals, even though Anisimova with a course towards a numerical asshole got a little straightened up on the score in the second set.
Anisimova is number 25 in the world and it was the first time that the American had reached among the last eight in the English grand slam tournament on the mythical turf in London.
Halep has not participated in Wimbledon since the triumph in 2019. In 2020, the tournament was canceled due to the corona crisis, while she canceled last year’s tournament with an injury.
In addition to Wimbledon, Halep has also won the grand slam tournament French Open in 2018.
