Mercedes driver Valteri Botas won the race for the Turkish Grand Prix today, in the Formula 1 championship, and thus recorded his first victory of the season.

Botas kept the first place during the whole race, which was driven in rainy conditions, and the second place went to the new leader in the general classification, Max Verstappen from Red Bull.

Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez took third place, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished fourth, and current world champion and Mercedes driver Luis Hamilton, who started from 11th place due to engine replacement, finished fifth.

Points were also won by Pierre Gasley (Alfa Tauri), Lando Norris (McLaren), Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) and Esteban Ocon (Alpin).

Botas also won an extra point for the fastest lap, and this is his 10th win of his career.

In the general classification, Verstappen is leading six races before the end (262.5), while Hamilton has 256.5 points in second place.

The next race is for the US Grand Prix, on October 24.
