Close to becoming the first team to confirm access to Series A, the Coritiba face Paysandu, the first relegated team, next Sunday (9), at 8:30 pm, at Curuzu. The team from Pará had its relegation confirmed to Series C after the comeback defeat to Atlético-GO, last Friday (31).
“We will respect Paysandu, which deserves all the respect, an extremely traditional team from the North of our country, which has a passionate fan base and an important history. So this is how we will prepare”, said the coach.
“I never look at the classification”, says Mozart
Mozart also commented on the preparation for the game, highlighting that he never bases his work on the opponents’ position in the table.
“I never look at the classification. We went to face Volta Redonda a week ago, and Volta Redonda was in the relegation zone. I prepared the team as if we were going to face a G4 team. And it will be that way against Paysandu. Especially because, on the other side, there are family men, players with important careers and a club with a lot of tradition. Let’s prepare to play a final, respecting the opponent, who deserves all our respect”, he concluded.
Mozart explains tie and admits anxiety
Regarding Couto Pereira’s stumble, the coach acknowledged that the team felt the weight of the final stretch and showed anxiety during the match.
“I think we were more anxious than we normally are. After a difficult year of reconstruction, we are contributing to repositioning the club. Reaching this final stretch is not simple, even with an experienced team. Anxiety really hindered us a little. CRB, unlike us, came lighter.”
According to the coach, anxiety affected decision-making and the execution of simple plays, which ended up costing him the victory. Still, he valued the point won.
“We made mistakes that we normally don’t make, a control that escaped, the anxiety of accelerating a pass when it was a circulation pass. Even so, the players competed, were strong in the set pieces and tried until the end”, he highlighted.
Anxiety leads to absence from the “final”
The tension of the game also cost the team a casualty. Lucas Ronier He received a silly yellow card after arguing with an opponent at the start of the match and is suspended for the clash with Paysandu.
Without the striker, Mozart will have to rely on Clayson and Everaldo, who already replaced him in other rounds of Series B, when he was injured.
On the other hand, Coritiba will have the return of defender Maicon, midfielder Sebastián Gómez and striker Dellatorre, who were suspended against CRB.
