Ice hockey club HIFK has extended the contract of goalkeeper Hugo Alnefelt for the rest of the season.

Swedish goalkeeper Alnefelt moved to HIFK in October and has convinced the club management in a short time.

HIFK’s head coach Olli Jokinen praises Alnefelt for improving his grip and giving the team the opportunity to fight for league points.

In October the goalkeeper who moved to IFK Helsinki in the middle Hugo Alnefelt continues in the Helsinki team for the rest of the season.

Alnefelt, 24, originally had a month-long trial period in the contract.

The Swedish goalkeeper has convinced the club management in a short time.

“As expected, Hugo has constantly improved his grip after losing games. Especially in the most recent matches, he has offered the team the opportunity to fight for league points,” commented HIFK’s head coach Olli Jokinen in the bulletin.

Alnefelt, who moved from SHL’s HV71, has made six saves in HIFK with a save percentage of 88.9.

Nightmarish after his league debut (conceding five goals), the Swedish striker has been in a strong attack. In the last five games, Alnefelt has blocked pucks with a 91.4 save percentage.

Last Saturday, Alnefelt saved the first clean sheet of his league career when HIFK defeated Ässät 3–0.

“Saturday will certainly bring more confidence to Hugo, but also to the whole team,” said Jokinen.
