Rubiales ‘reappears’ before the presentation of his book ‘Matar a Rubiales’: “It’s time to return”

The former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales has ‘reappeared’ on social networks shortly before the publication of his book ‘Killing Rubiales’, scheduled for November 13 and in which he recounts his version of the ‘Hermoso case’ that caused his disqualification until 2026 by FIFA.

With the profile @luisrubiales17 on Instagram and @LuisRubiales_17 on X, Luis Rubiales has opened these accounts to “participate” and tell his followers about his “new projects” and “enter into debate.” “I want to take into account the opinions from a respectful and constructive point of view,” he noted in a video uploaded to both social networks.

“After almost two years away from social networks, it is time to return. My intention is to participate from time to time, give my opinion on topics of interest, explain issues that affect me, complement information that is accurate or help dismantle other information that lacks rigor. I will try to do it respectfully and constructively. Hugs,” he wrote.

The ‘reappearance’ of Rubiales on the networks occurs shortly before the publication of the book that will be launched, in the middle of this month, by the Andalusian publisher Última Línea, of just over 500 pages including the documents it includes, in which Rubiales offers his opinion after the kiss to the international Jenni Hermoso – for which he was sentenced to a fine of 10,800 euros and the prohibition of approaching the player at less than 200 meters – in the celebration of the victory in the final of the 2025 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand that removed him from the position of head of the RFEF.

In ‘Killing Rubiales’, the former president of the RFEF addresses three dates that he considers key in the federation’s stage. The first, on May 17, 2018 when he won the presidential elections; the second, on August 20, 2023, when Spain wins the Women’s World Cup and Rubiales kissed Jenni Hermoso on the lips. And three weeks later, on September 10, 2023, when the man from Motril resigns from his position.

In his new book, Rubiales explains his version of what happened and how that resignation came about, defending that “with his policies of support for women’s football he had taken it to the top of world sport.” The former Andalusian footballer will reveal “if the Government, the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas or the influence of the ‘woke’ world had anything to do with his resignation.

In this book, Rubiales denounces the, for him, “the biggest conspiracy that Spanish football has ever known”, with lies “fabricated” with “the purpose of classifying him in society as corrupt.” Now, the author provides documentary evidence that seeks to support not only his innocence but also “the more than presumed origin” of the accusations to which he has been subjected.

In ‘Killing Rubiales’, the former president of the RFEF will also review anecdotes and experiences with some actors from the world of sport such as Miguel Cardenal, Aleksander Ceferin, Gianni Infantino, Enrique Cerezo, Jaume Roures, Miguel Galán, Javier Tebas, Miquel Iceta, Irene Lozano, Víctor Francos, Gerard Piqué, Dani Alves, Pedro Rocha or Alejandro Blanco. As well as from the political sphere, such as Mariano Rajoy, Pedro Sánchez, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, María Jesús Montero, Irene Montero, Yolanda Díaz, Íñigo Errejón or, among others, Borja Sémper.
