Football: The big clubs are after Rudi Vikström, 18

Striker Rudi Vikström is interested in big clubs in Finland and Sweden.

Striker Rudi Vikström is one of the hottest young names of the ending Veikkausliiga season.

18-year-old Vikström scored four league goals in 392 game minutes. Vikström appeared in 18 matches, mainly as a substitute. He also hit twice in the Finnish Cup.

The striker is perhaps best remembered for his goal against HJK. Vikström’s overtime goal gave Jaro a surprise win in Helsinki.

Editorial according to league sources, Vikström is the most coveted players in the winter transfer market. He is followed by all the top teams of the Veikkausliiga: Inter, KuPS, SJK, HJK and Ilves.

Vikström maintains his fitness with SJK before the Finnish U19 national team’s European Championship qualifiers. Finland will face Iceland on November 12 and Romania on November 15.

Vikström, raised by Esse IK and Jaro, is also of interest in Sweden. At least Stockholm’s big clubs Djurgården and Hammarby and a number of other clubs, e.g. IFK Gothenburg.

18 year old Matias Siltanen a sensational debut season in Djurgården has further increased interest in young Finnish players in Sweden.

Vikström’s the contract with Jaro still covers the 2026 season, and it has an option for the 2027 season. In other words, Jaro will receive a transfer fee for his young gem. Strong interest in the player can increase the transfer amount even more.

Vikström is definitely hungry for more playing time next season. Despite his goals, he remained in a surprisingly small role as Jaro’s coach as the season progressed Niklas Vidjeskogin in the plans. A suitable role can define next season’s club selection.

Staying in Jaro for next season – or at least until the summer transfer window – is still possible. Vidjeskog will switch to a Swede next season to Jens Karlssonand one of the coach’s mandates is to increase the playing time of his own players.
