Goalkeeper Santos is confirmed in Athletico’s plans for 2026

Santos started the season at Fortaleza, but arrived in Curitiba at the end of January. With no space at the northeastern club, the player bet on returning to the team that established him on the national scene.

The goalkeeper has accumulated seven titles with the red-black shirt and is among the five players with the most trophies in the club’s history: three Paraná Championships (2016, 2018 and 2020), two South American Cups (2018 and 2021), one Copa do Brasil (2019) and the J.League/Conmebol (2019).

In total, the archer played 294 games for Athletico, with 134 wins, 74 draws and 66 defeats. Even with his idol status, Santos had to regain his place throughout the competition. The veteran took advantage of the recurring failures of young Mycael, internally considered a goalkeeper with great potential, but who did not respond when expected and ended up blocked by Odair from the 18th round of Series B onwards.

Despite the exchange, Odair revealed that he wants to have both of them in the Furacão main squad in 2026.
