Dinamo will be served by one of the world’s richest judges

On Tuesday, from 20:00, Dinamo will try to defend the advantage (2-1) from Razgrad and reach the playoffs of the Champions League via Ludogorets, or at least secure the group stage of the Europa League.

The duel in Maksimir will be refereed by one of the world’s most respected referees, the 39-year-old Frenchman Benoit Bastien, whom the players of the Zagreb team met last season in an identical phase of the competition (rematch against Legija in the 3rd preliminary round of LP).

He is better known to the wider Croatian public as the man who refereed the Flames in a heavy defeat (6-0) against Spain in the premier edition of the League of Nations (2018). Last season, he was part of the four referees who administered justice at the Champions League final between Real and Liverpool.

Bastien has been a FIFA referee since 2014 and knows what it’s like to referee under enormous pressure in a heated atmosphere. Last season, he refereed the Ligue 1 derby between Nice and Marseille, and he did not hesitate to stop it after the fan riots.

By the way, Bastien is a teacher by profession, and, interestingly, he is one of the richest judges in the world. His fortune is estimated at approximately 1.5 million dollars.
