Bjerg ends just outside the podium – Ekstra Bladet

Mikkel Bjerg finished fourth in Wednesday’s EC single start in Munich, Germany, and thus ended up just outside the medals.

Morten Hulgaard finished eighth, while the Swiss Stefan Bissegger won the EC gold.

The single start was 24 kilometers long, and Mikkel Bjerg was 27 seconds behind the winner.

Morten Hulgaard was a bit further ahead of the winner – exactly 1 minute and 13 seconds.

It turned into a double Swiss triumph, as Stefan Küng came in second just over a second behind his compatriot.

Number three was Italian pace specialist Filippo Ganna, who was nine seconds behind Bissegger.

The women also ended up with Swiss gold, as Marlen Reusser was the fastest of all.

Two Dutchmen entered the next positions in the race against the clock. Ellen van Dijk came second, while Riejanne Markus took care of the bronze.

The best Dane was Emma Cecilie Bjerg in a position of number 11. She was almost two minutes behind the winner.

In 29th place and thus last place, Mia Sofie Rützou completed the single start almost five minutes after the winner.
