Italian Elia Viviani returns to INEOS until 2024

The cyclist Elia Viviani returns to the INEOS Grenadiers and signs again with the British team until 2024, until after the next Olympic event in Paris 2024, in a movement that has surprised and that the Italian defends in pursuit of his performance in the calendar of route and focus on being able to be strong on the Paris track in three years.

Viviani, who played in the British team from 2015 to 2017, assured that she wanted to return to a now INEOS -by then Sky- in which she achieved 19 victories although, yes, without great renown or flash beyond, for example , a stage in the Giro d’Italia.

“From the moment I left the team, I had in mind that one day I would return, and now that day has come and I could not be happier,” Viviani said in statements provided by the British team.

Viviani assured that she “never” lost contact with the team or its leaders. “I am very good friends with many of the team members. I never missed the opportunity to speak with them in races about cycling, my team, my season and this team. This feels like going back to the family,” he said.

After going from Sky to Cofidis, Viviani has won a stage of the Tour de France, three in La Vuelta and four in the Giro d’Italia as great achievements. “In my last year with the team in 2017, I won nine races, including Hamburg and Plouay. I also won my first stage at the Giro d’Italia in my first year with the team,” he recalled.

Viviani won Olympic gold on track at the omnium in 2016, uniting her road and track ambitions with the support of the team. That level of support is an important factor in his return to the team, as he looks ahead to Paris 2024.
