In about a month, the Olympic Games will open in Tokyo and tonight (Saturday), Hannah Knyazeva Minenko received the good news she was expecting. Israel’s triple jumper, who is currently competing in the Intercontinental Cup in Madrid, jumped a distance of 14.36 meters, thus setting the criteria that would buy her participation in the Olympics.
Already in her second jump in Madrid, Minenko recorded a distance of 14.24 meters. The long-awaited moment came in the third jump, which was, as mentioned, a distance of 14.36, when the criterion was 14.32. Israel’s senior jumper will be at the Olympics for the third time, after participating in Rio 2016 and even managed to represent Ukraine in London 2012.
Minenko, who suffered a not-so-simple injury, has been under a lot of tension lately and in the formation of the Olympic Committee last Tuesday she seemed very alert and focused on the goal she was facing. At the Israeli Championships last week, she disqualified three times and settled for a distance of 14.04 meters, but in Madrid she managed to meet her task and be part of the Israeli delegation.
