One year and three months since the last time – Dudi Sela returns to the tennis courts. This will happen tomorrow (Monday) when the senior Israeli bat will go up to the Wimbledon turf where he will play the first qualifying round of the most prestigious tournament of all.
Sela (318 in the world) is expected to ascend at 13:00 to pitch number 14 at the All England Club when he faces British Stuart Parker (573). The last time the Israeli played an official game was somewhere in March 2020, when he met the American Mitchell Krueger at the Indian Wells Tournament.
And what about the last Grand Slam in which the 36-year-old tennis player participated? It was at the Australian Open, where he was already eliminated in the qualifiers against Chinese Zhe Lee. Remember, Wimbledon is the Grand Slam where Sela recorded his greatest career achievement – qualifying for the quarterfinals in 2009, when he lost only to Novak Djokovic. Also in 2017 Sela made an impressive run on the grass of London with reaching the third round including a big win on the way over American John Eisner.
