Luka Mitrović led the red and whites to victory with 16 points and seven rebounds, Ognjen Dobrić scored a point less, Nikola Kalinić scored 14 points, while Nate Walters scored nine points and five rebounds and assists.
In the defeated team, the best were Alen Smailagić with 15 and Dallas Moore with 14 points, while Kevin Panther and Rade Zagorac finished the game with six points each.
The star started the game much better and thanks to a great game in defense, she was in the lead from the beginning. The red and whites had 7: 0 and 9: 2, Partizan approached 9: 8 with a series of 6: 0, but the home team tied six points after the time-out of Dejan Radonjić and went to the first break with a lead of 15: 8.
After Madara’s unsportsmanlike personal error, Zvezda “ran away” to plus nine in the middle of the second quarter, and led by Mitrović, it reached the first double-digit advantage (32:21) with which it went on a big vacation.
The home team dictated the rhythm at the start of the second half, while the black and whites continued to struggle in the attack. After the triple of Dobrić and the hitherto infallible Mitrović, Zvezda reached a 15-point advantage at the beginning of the third quarter, and then a maximum plus 17 (42:25).
However, from that moment and Kalinic’s points, Dejan Radonjic’s team did not score a single basket from the game, so Partizan approached 45:40 with a series of 15: 3.
Partizan also had a chance to reduce the advantage, but Smailagić missed both free throws, so after Mitrovic’s point, Zvezda went from free throws to the last break with a seven-point advantage of 47:40.
After six minutes without points from the game in the third quarter, the red and whites opened the last section with a series of 18: 4 and reached the maximum and unattainable 65:44.
The Red Star basketball players will be guests of the Student Center in the next round of the ABA League, while Partizan is waiting for another derby as they will welcome the Buducnost team.
