Russian tennis player Danil Medvedev defeated German Alexander Zverev today with 6: 3, 6: 7 (3), 7: 6 (6) and thus made a big step towards placing in the semifinals of the final tournament in Turin. Last year’s winner of the ATP final arrived in the second round of the Red Group after two hours and 35 minutes of play.

Medvedev defeated Hubert Hurkac in the first round and could secure a place in the semifinals tonight, in case the Pole beats Italian Mateo Beretini, who handed over the match of the first round to Zverev.

The second tennis player in the world saved two break points in the opening game of the match, after which he took the service away from the German and took the lead with 3: 0. That one break was enough for him to take a 1-0 lead.

Medvedev missed three break opportunities in the second set, so the winner of that part of the game was decided in a tie-break, which was won by Zverev with 7: 3.

The tennis players were confident in their service in the deciding set as well, so the decision on the winner “fell” again in the tie-break. Zverev took the lead with 3: 1, but Medvedev reversed the result and won that tie-break with 8: 6.
