“I was sure that the whole season would work out,” said Schmidhofer in a video conference. But then she had to admit that she had missed too many training sessions over the summer and had to catch up with the competition. “You can’t lie around for four months and then think you can ride all season.”
The last few months have been extremely exhausting for Schmidhofer. “Always have to listen to what my knee is doing, what my body is doing. It’s exhausting. That was the right decision,” said the experienced downhill skier.
Although Schmidhofer ends the season, she wants to continue her career. She has already announced the 2023 World Cup in Meribel as a new goal.
