Serbian basketball players did not manage to qualify for the Olympic Games because they were defeated by Italy with 95: 102 (22:28, 23:29, 18:23, 32:22) in the final match of the tournament in Belgrade tonight. The most efficient in the domestic selection was Danilo Andjusic with 27 points and three assists, Filip Petrushev scored 22 points with five rebounds, while Ognjen Dobric added 17 points with four assists and three rebounds.

In the Italian national team, Nicolo Menion was better than the others with 24 points and four assists, Akile Polonara scored 22 points with 12 rebounds, and Simone Fontecchio scored 21 points with eight rebounds.

Italy started the match better, and had the biggest advantage with the result of 7:16.

With a series of 8: 0, Serbia responded and reduced the score, but Italy played better again and by the end of the first half, Serbia did not manage to take the lead.

Serbia gained the only advantage in the match in the middle of the second quarter with eight tied points by Andjušić (36:32), and by the end of the half, Italy reached 45:57 with an excellent shot for three points (9/18).

Italy then increased the advantage with a great game, and on two occasions they led by 24 points.

By the end of the third quarter, the Serbian basketball team reduced the result to 63:80.

In the last quarter, Serbia tried to reach a turning point, but it only managed to reduce the difference to single digits in the last minute of the match.

Italy will play in Group B at the Olympic Games with the national teams of Australia, Nigeria and Germany.

The placement in the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games will be provided by the two best selections from all three groups, as well as the two best third-placed national teams.

The Olympic Games in Tokyo are on the program from July 23 to August 8.
