A Radonjic on a graceful evening dragged Torino to success in Salerno with a clear 3-0 that does not allow for discussion. Juric’s eleven, who were able to count on Zapata who is returning to full fitness, had an easy time against Salernitana. Captain Buongiorno broke the deadlock after 15 minutes of play, then Radonjic took care of it in the 41st minute with his magic to repeat the visitors’ goals.
A flash from Cabral at the end of the half, which ended up on the post, could have changed the fate of the match for the home team. In the 50th minute, however, it was Radonjic again who secured the result. The Serbian attacking midfielder could have also scored a hat-trick eight minutes later, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Salernitana was powerless and only became dangerous towards the end of the match when Milinkovic Savic blocked Fazio’s header from close range.
The match
Paulo Sousa launches Candreva and Cabral with Botheim, in a midfield orphaned by Coulibaly there is room for Legowski and Bohinen. Juric loses Vlasic, victim of an attack of gastroenteritis: Seck plays in the attacking midfield with Radonjic, Zapata ahead. Cabral dirty the gloves of Milinkovic Savic who was also ready for Candreva’s curling shot.
The start was local, but the guests took the lead, doing well to exploit the first useful opportunity: following a corner from Lazaro, the ball danced in the area like in a pinball machine, the winning touch is from Buongiorno who puts it behind Ochoa from a few steps. The reaction from Campania is in the bucking of a lively Mazzocchi, who is also dangerous with a violent low shot from distance that ends up just wide.
However, before the break, Toro’s second goal arrived: the action developed on the right and ended on the left with Radonjic controlling it at the edge of the area and curling a shot to the far post where the goalkeeper couldn’t reach. It was also an unlucky afternoon for Salernitana, in full recovery Cabral smashed the post following Candreva’s suggestion.
Paulo Sousa tries to come from the bench and sends in Ikwuemesi, Martegani and Tchaouna immediately at the start of the second half. Not even the substitutions manage to shake the hosts who after 5′ collect the third goal: Bellanova’s descent on the right and a suggestion in the center for Radonjic’s first-time winner. Double for the Serbian who flirts with his third personal goal but in the end fails to find it.
First it was VAR who recognized an offside by canceling Radonjic’s hat-trick who then, a little later, devoured the goal to make it 0-4 with an empty net. Only towards the end did Salernitana see a bit of a return, but Milinkovic Savic secured the clean sheet by opposing the close-range header from substitute Fazio.
