Paris instead of St. Petersburg: UEFA takes the CL final away from Russia

What was already announced by UEFA on Thursday is now official. The final of the Champions League, scheduled for May 28 in St. Petersburg, will be withdrawn from Russia. The decision was made by the Executive Committee of the European Football Union on Friday at a crisis meeting due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

UEFA opted instead to host the final in Paris. It is to be played at the Stade de France. It would be the first Champions League final in France since 2006. It was also decided that Russian and Ukrainian teams should play their matches on neutral ground in the future.
