American gymnast Sanisa Lee won a gold medal in all-around at the Olympic Games in Tokyo today.

With a total score of 57,433, Lee was better than the Brazilian Rebecca Andrade, who achieved a score of 57,298, and thus became the fifth American in a row to win gold in that category.

Sanisa Lee also won team silver in gymnastics on Tuesday, where she finished behind Russia with the United States national team.

Russian Angelina Meljnikova, who was part of that golden team, won bronze in today’s all-around.

American Simon Byles did not have the opportunity to defend the gold medal won in Rio in 2016, because she withdrew from the competition on Wednesday “to protect her mental health”.

She watched the finals in all-around from the stands.
