It will probably take a little getting used to, but in the future one of the sport’s biggest stars would like to be known by a new name.

Almost new at least. Thus, the seven-time world champion in Formula 1 Lewis Hamilton would like to add an extra surname to Hamilton.

“None of you know it for sure, but my mother’s name is Larbalestier, and I’m getting it added to my name,” Hamilton revealed during an interview in Dubai, according to Sky Sports.

– I do not really understand the idea that the woman loses her name when someone gets married, he elaborated.

However, the 37-year-old race driver has no plans to throw Hamilton to get the new name.

– I really want to have my mother’s name and continue with the Hamilton name, he says.

According to the news agency NTB, it is likely that he will drive under the name Lewis Hamilton-Larbalestier later in the season.

However, it is unlikely to be realized ahead of Sunday’s season opener in Bahrain.

Lewis Hamilton’s parents divorced when he was two years old. He lived with his mother, Carmen Larbalestier, for the next ten years until he was 12 years old. He then lived with his father, Anthony Hamilton, whose family hails from Grenada.
