Former Zvezda football player Slobodan Skrbic has died
Former Red Star football player Slobodan Skrbic died at the age of 77, the Belgrade club announced today.Skrbic was born on October 18, 1944 in Belgrade. He started his football career at the Red Star Youth School, and he played for the first team from 1961 to 1970.

He played a total of 191 games for Zvezda and scored 12 goals. He won titles in 1964, 1968 and 1970, as well as the Central European Cup in 1968. He also competed in the Fair Cities Cup, and during the 1963/1964 season he became a standard red and white first team player and participated in winning the double crown.

In the same season, in the match against Bulgaria in Sofia, he made his debut for the senior national team of Yugoslavia, for which he recorded a total of four appearances.

He also played in three European Champions Cup games in the 1964/1965 season, followed by injury problems and surgery, which slowed his career. He returned to the field in the 1967/1968 season and helped win the title, and also recorded a triumph in the Central European Cup.

Due to major problems with injuries, he paused again, and after that, in 1971, he moved to Lille, France, where he finished his career at the age of 27.
